My wife's social worker attempted to contact BTAC recently but the phone appeared to have been disconnected.

Is it still operational? Is there a new number?

THE PHONE NUMBER WE LISTED which is 818-848-2822 is correct. We had someone call and ask. Extension 100 is for information if you need to sign up for groceries. IF YOU ARE NOT HOMELESS BUT WANT GROCERIES you need to show up in person and bring EVIDENCE OF INCOME. If you ARE HOMELESS you can show up for a bag lunch - sometimes pizza or a snack or salad - five days a week. VOICE MAIL WILL ANSWER WHEN BTAC is CLOSED. They are closed from 12 noon till 1:30. To talk to someone called 9-12 and 1:30 to 5.
Thanks to the BTAC volunteers!

P.S. RESIDENTS OF BURBANK only though we can't figure out how, if you're homeless you can prove you are homeless in Burbank. Ask them about getting a Burbank based California ID if you are sure you want to be homeless in Burbank.

I have tried twice to post a follow-up comment but for some reason Blogger said it couldn't process the request (!?) and promptly dumped all my text. That'll teach me to forget to copy to the clipboard before posting a web form...

After I asked about BTAC earlier I called them myself and spoke to a very helpful volunteer who then put me in touch with staff members.

My wife (who is disabled and unable to work) and I then visited BTAC and we can't praise them enough.

We received a packed lunch and some groceries (all much needed and very much appreciated), and most importantly a voucher that put a roof over our heads for three nights while we continued to try to find a solution to our homelessness (caused by a combination of my seriously extended unemployment and abandonment by my wife's family of origin; my family want to help but can't).

Despite funding holdups (thanks, squabbling politicians) the organization does its best to fill a major gap in support for the homeless and working poor in and around Burbank.

I urge anyone with a social conscience - whether individuals or businesses - to consider supporting BTAC with either money and/or goods (healthful food, basic necessities including personal hygiene and household items, clothing, even services). It's time and money well spent.

We found your comment in our spam folder (though obviously that's a mistake and might not explain the posting problem!) We're glad you got a warm welcome at BTAC. Though we think BTAC is worth mentioning, Burbank also makes it difficult for people who are living in vehicles. We'd like the city to assign a parking lot with a night guard for homeless in RV's, etc, and not ticket those who cannot insure or register their vehicles to park in the lot. (Cops looking to make ticket quotas often go around shelters and other homeless facilities.

Long term unemployment is not unusual these days. While in Burbank check out their WORK SOURCE and CITY JOBS.
