LANDLORDS GUIDE TO SIGNING UP TO BE A SECTION 8 HOUSING PROVIDER

There's something in it for you Dear Landlord and we would like more selection when it comes to Section 8.

But you'll have to ask yourself if you think HOUSING IS A HUMAN RIGHT OR NOT!

A whole lot of us have evictions on our credit. We don't want to loose our apartment again and have another eviction or face the FIVE YEAR WAIT PENALTY if we do.

Because it ain't cool at all when someone goes into a Section 8 apartment after a long wait too and then a year later you raise the rent so that their 1/3rd is unaffordable. That person still has to come up with money to move again and find another Section 8 apartment! So if you're an asshole we don't want to rent from you in the first place because you can make our life rotten again. Jacey

This is not correct. Section 8 charges 1/3 of the INCOME of a person NOT 1/3 of the rent on an apartment. However, we don't know exactly how it's decided how much the city, county, federal government, is willing to pay for an apartment. It might be regional. It's supposed to be the average rate for an apartment in a neighborhood. C

YOU'RE RIGHT! But we still hear stories of landlords and building managers asking for bribes to take the section 8 or paying more "on the side." WE ARE ADVISED BY THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES THAT ANYONE WHO EXPERIENCES SUCH A THING WHEN TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT or AFTER RENTING IT to call them first! They can handle the landlord or manager for you.
