Kyle Laffey and Luke Braun made this video about "STREET HOMELESS."
It profiles Patrick who after 20 years on the streets gets housing through St Joseph's Center. It also mentions the Vehicle to Home program!

UPWARD BOUND SANTA MONICA HOMELESS FAMILY SHELTER - FOR WORKING HOMELESS
UPWARD BOUND - SANTA MONICA - FOR HOMELESS WORKING FAMILIES link here
The one stipulation is that the parents must be working to show they’re accountable and motivated to rebuild their lives. I never knew how many assisted programs are available to those in need of housing. The director Tina said that the hardest challenge is for the families to work and deal with their children’s schooling all while being homeless.
This shelter gives them a temporary home for a short time and even helps them find future housing in Los Angeles.

COMPANION ANIMALS ? AT THE SHELTER?
]
Companion Animals are not just for emotional support or for mental patients. Companion Animals also may be trained to alert you to a seizure before it happens, to alert you to take medications, to alert you if there is a fire (or someone at your door or coming through your window) or other emergency, to wake you up, to guide you when you are blind...
MOST PEOPLE - BUSINESS OWNERS - LIBRARIANS - RESTAURANTEERS seem to only know about GUIDE DOGS for the BLIND.
Usually it takes a doctor to elevate your pet to COMPANION ANIMAL STATUS and we think it's a good idea to carry information on you incase you are stopped or questioned.

SEX TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS UNITED - SURVIVORS CONNECT BLOG ADDED TO OUR LIST
SURVIVORS CONNECT link here!
This blog is a composite of writings and referrals to blog posts written by survivors of prostitution/trafficking. It’s a place to find the writings of members of Survivors Connect, the International Online Leaderless Network of Trafficking/Prostitution Survivors. When we act together it is much easier for us to speak the truth about the sex industry. We no longer have to do it alone. If we join voices, we’re stronger and harder to ignore. It’s time for us to lead the anti-CSE movement and speak for ourselves. Here’s what survivors have to say:

HAS A SECTION 8 LANDLORD ASKED YOU FOR CASH? A BRIBE TO GET INTO AN APARTMENT OR CASH IN ADDITION TO YOUR RENT TO STAY?
We're hearing about new Section 8 voucher holders desperately looking for apartments and encountering landlords who are asking them for cash in addition to money they would get from City of LA, County of LA, City of Burbank... We mean cash you'll never see again.
Section 8 voucher holders KNOW THIS IS NOT LEGAL but are afraid of loosing their vouchers that they waited so long for if they do not find housing.
They know that if they get the landlord in trouble they will not get the apartment and other Section 8 tenants renting from the same people could also have trouble. NO ONE WANTS TO GO BACK TO THE STREET.

OUTDOOR CITIZEN BRIAN JOB - OLYMPIC SWIMMING MEDALIST 1968 HOMELESS
From Olympics to the streets: Medalist homeless in California - SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS - Bruce Newman reports
..."Job, who pronounces his name like the Bible's long-suffering character, had become the first high school swimmer to break the one-minute barrier in the 100-yard breaststroke on March 29, 1968. Forty-five years later to the day, Job was released from the Santa Clara County main jail after his arrest for interfering with firefighters, who, according to a Palo Alto Police Department spokesman, were attempting to extinguish a fire Job had built in a restaurant parking lot. Job insists he and some of his fellow "outdoor citizens" were merely having a late-night barbecue..."

HIV POSITIVE AND HOMELESS IN LA - MARK and OTHER HOMELESS HIV POSITIVE PEOPLE !
CHIRPA LA for HIV HOUSING PROGRAM INFORMATION link here
This post is for Mark who contacted us about being just evicted and homeless in PASADENA California and anyone else in his situation.
Hi Mark! We posted your comment and hope that you will recieve some responses from people who have experience.
We discovered CHIRP as the ultimate referral place for HIV. It's tied in with AIDS HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION.
We have met other people who were evicted when they become ill with HIV or AIDS, unable to keep their jobs because of hospital time. (If this is you, you might have a law suit if your temination or eviction was illegal.) We don't know what your sexuality is or if you got HIV from sex, drugs, rock and roll ... if you are in a vehicle or what. We know that some of these people were PRIORITY LISTED.
The first thing is, how we wish you had been able to make dozens of phone calls and run around BEFORE you were evicted. Now it will be more difficult on you. We want you to use the SEARCH feature of this blogger to search for words like HIV, AIDS, or PASADENA. Be aware that your health status is important to reveal to any intake people or social workers you encounter.
You will find that you are in a sea of programs and a sea of homeless people bigger than the programs. You will find that if you are already on Disability, you will have an easier time finding a program that will take you. You'll probably go see a lot of people. Your hopes will go up and your hopelessness will go down.
So our first suggestion is that you STAY IN PASADENA for now, since that is home base even if you're on the outside looking in. You want to inquirer at UNION STATION UNION STATION PASADENA HOMELESS .
Next, if you are a VETERAN, more red white and blue tape but certainly go to the VA. They say they are trying to totally eradicate veteran homelessness and they have space in more than one shelter in the LA area.
You can also contact Chirp and find out if you qualify for any referals.
You can be HIV positive and not be gay but especially if you are gay we think you should go to the CITY OF WEST HOLLYWOOD.
WEHO CITY and RESPONSE TO HOMELESSNESS
Finally, call your DOCTOR, and go to the closest COUNTY HOSPITAL or other HOSPITAL THAT TAKES YOUR INSURANCE, and ask to speak to the Social Workers there!
Best of Luck to you!

ADAM GOMEZ - THIRTEEN - COLLECTS 50 BLANKETS FOR LOS ANGELES HOMELESS
"Maria Clara Rodado-Kim, his Spanish teacher of three years, is a witness to Gomez going out there to help people in need.
“He was really adamant about finding blankets,” says Rodado-Kim. “He asked me ‘Please, do you have any blankets you can donate? In 7th grade, for someone so young, it’s amazing — to help people in need…What I loved about it is that it made the other kids want to help also. My boys also started asking.”

ARE YOU HOMELESS BECAUSE YOU LEFT A RELIGIOUS CULT?
We've heard of people running to cults after being evicted, but we've also heard of people who escaped cults who became homeless.
As often happens, a cult expects you to cut ties with family and friends you had before the cult. Then if you leave it, these people are not available for support or for practical help. Cults are sometimes Christian organizations. We've heard of one Christian shelter/homeless program that makes new inductees remain cut off from the world for one month.
A cult can act as a family but at what cost?
