EASTER : FOOD SHELTER AND CLOTHING ARE A HUMAN RIGHT!

We think FOOD, SHELTER, and CLOTHING, are the very basic HUMAN RIGHTS. Medical Care and Education are also necessary to survival and prosperity.

We want to thank those who do care about us, who do give their time and resources to help others.

We know the economy stinks and that this is making it more difficult for average people and that many thousands who would not be homeless now are because they have lost their jobs and with their jobs their medical insurance and health, their cars or access to transportation, their good credit, and their relationships. We know that social services and non-profits are being stretched to their limits.

PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP ON US!

HAVE YOU GAINED LOTS OF WEIGHT or GOTTEN DIABETES SINCE YOU BECAME HOMELESS?

Diabetes? Overweight? Just what can we do when we don't have kitchens to cook in? Or when we have to go from feed to feed and eat what is put in front of us? Or we can't make our EBT go far enough and eat lots of bread and bakery give aways?

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF NON PROFIT HOUSING HUD REPORT ON HOMELESSNESS

This is Housing and Urban Development's report on the state of homelessness - more rural and suburban poor. We are hearing that all HUD FUNDED SHELTERS/BEDS are going to be offering less stay time. no matter what shelter or program. All or most non military or non mental health program residents of one local shelter's Transitional Living Program have been given 30 days notice. According to our source, the director of Los Angeles Family Housing, informed all TLP residents of the change about a week ago, saying there would be no more waiting for SSI. Residents at that shelter were short noticed that they needed to attend a meeting and refusal to attend would mean automatic 30 day notice to terminate. A couple weeks before that all shelter residents - no matter what program - were tested for drug use and again were told that refusal to test would be an automatic termination. According to our source, medical marijuana prescription owners are allowed to stay though they tested positive but OPIATE users (heroin) were terminated. Lots of upset among residents at that shelter, but more homeless need to be given a 90 day chance to turn their lives around.
