WEST VALLEY FOOD PANTRY - PRINCE OF PEACE

Our volunteer called this food pantry to verify information and spoke to a very rude woman who said she was too busy to talk and hung up. We hope you get better treatment when you show up but some of us would rather go without a meal or two than be talked down to by some "do-gooder" (B. says do-do-gooder) with more attitude than compassion. B. also had this to say; "If you're helping the poor to stroke your ego, why not get out of the empathy business, bitch?"

UPDATE:  We'll call the food banks again and report any changes in attitude or behavior towards the homeless, but it's up to the charity itself to train people.  Our volunteer called a number of food banks that are just as busy if not more so and this was the only one where they were met with rudeness.

If your volunteer called on one of the busy days when six unpaid volunteers are working with close to 1000 hungry people, they might be too busy to talk and (gasp) might even be rude. They might be human too. Empathy works both ways.
