Information about Cold Weather Shelter at Onizuka site is several years old-it is info about the Sunnyvale Armory that the National Guard owned at one time. It was demolished and Charities Housing built Parkside Studios with studios for homeless and very low income folks.
The status of Onizuka is that the opening has been delayed for the 2nd time. Postponed until the weekend of 12/12,13 due to continued water connection problems.

It is not a drop-in shelter like it was at the old site. 100 unhoused people have been chosen by Home First from referrals of the local social services agencies in the county. They will stay the full 4 months until March 31st. If the temp. drops very low walk-ins will be considered(not sure of how many).

I thought the Armory in Gilroy is suppose to be a warming center where we can be kept warm, instead the heater keeps getting shut off by clients.
