"I have a question. I am a homeowner, not homeless so I hope you will still hear me out. The Homeless RV Park proposed in this old clip is being proposed again, but this time directly behind my neighborhood. This area is still on the far East side of town and not close to any public transportation or public facilities like a grocery store, pharmacy, or even restaurant. Our residents concern is for the safety of the homeless that may live here. The street the site is located on is not lit and has no sidewalks. The closest bus stop is a mile away, again no sidewalks or lights, and to get there you have to walk down a very busy road. How would you feel about this situation if it were proposed to you? The one man in the clip likes the idea, but not the location. It is still in the same area, but this time no transportation. I would really appreciate any feedback. OUR ANSWER: We think that anywhere that the homeless who own RV's can park legally is a positive thing, because at least they will not have to deal with police problems.  Also, the Rv owners may be able to hook up and have showers, cook, and live a more normal and less stressful life.  We know people who can barely afford to move their RV's from place to place, who are spending money on gas and going without enough food.  We understand that not being able to easily get to a bus or groceries is a problem, once parked, but some of these people might be qualified for local disabled shuttles, and perhaps they can go shopping in groups - running only one RV there and back.  Our point is that stability of residence is a start.

Check into SANTA BARBARA California's project of LEGAL PARKING at night in shopping center lots.  People are assigned a spot and have to arrive there and leave there each night and day, but at least they know where they'll be parking and there isn't a problem with the police.

We think this is the wave of the future.

We feel that ANYWHERE the Homeless can park officially, so that they don't have to deal with police problems is an improvement on their situation.  The problem of where to put a shelter is also very real.  Homeless people are supposed to keep moving on.  With what gas costs today, it may be cheaper for the homeless to stay parked.  The fact that there is no grocery store nearbye is a challenge.  However, people who have RV's and hook ups can at least cook!  We see advantages to that financially.
