OK so we're telling a couple kids we know, one just graduated high school and has a job lined up and is sofa hoping, the other is 16 and locked out of his parent's apartment, so he's doing a lot of sitting in fast food restaurants, about this place.  It sounds good.  Like all our postings though, we would like reports about your true experiences dealing with this non-profit.

FOSTER CARE? LOS ANGELES CHILDRENS BUREAU

CHILDRENS BUREAU - LOS ANGELES COUNTY

In Los Angeles County more than 2,000 foster children turn 18 and leave foster care without an adoptive family. Over a third of these emancipated teens end up homeless or incarcerated during the first two years of living on their own and without the support of a family. Young adults may now remain in foster care until age 21 if desired. They may also access subsidized housing and tuition at a California college year around.

SPOTLIGHT ON POVERTY - CALIFORNIA - HERE'S THE STATS!

If you believe stats...

SPOTLIGHT ON POVERTY link

Child poverty rate: 23%

Senior poverty rate: 18%
Women in poverty: 18%

Percent of single-parent families with related children that are below poverty: 34% ...

Why Spotlight Poverty and Opportunity?

In the United States, the wealthiest country in the world, nearly 43.6 million people live in poverty, which for a family of four means an annual income of less than $22,100 a year. During the Great Recession millions fell below the poverty line for the first time. The country’s slow economic recovery and continuing high unemployment have resulted in record numbers of families struggling to put enough food on the table and pay for housing, health care and other basic needs.

American poverty disproportionately affects children, with more than 15 million now growing up in impoverished homes. Other industrialized nations do much better. Among 24 developed nations, children in America, along with those in Greece and Italy, suffer the greatest inequalities in health, education and material well-being.

Reducing poverty is not only a moral imperative, it is vital to our nation’s well-being. Children who grow up poor too often become adults who cannot contribute effectively to our economic productivity, put a burden on the public health system or enter the criminal justice system. Economists estimate that child poverty costs the nation about $500 billion a year.

ARE YOU HOMELESS BECAUSE YOUR PARENTS DON'T LIKE YOUR SEXUALITY?

Did your parents beat you, verbally abuse you, withdrawal their financial support, force you to go to church, or in any way harm you, forcing you to run away from home because you are Gay, Bisexual, Transgendering, or QUESTIONING whether or not you are heterosexual?

LEFT TO THEMSELVES

In the September 11-17, 2009 edition of the LA Weekly, the still free newspaper, author Daniel Heimpel writes LEFT TO THEMSELVES (Nobody can undo the damage to kids like John, raised from infancy by foster-care profiteers) a story about what happens to kids in the foster care system who are freed from it at 18, and become homeless.
