HOMELESS USED AS SLAVES - LINKS TO REPORTAGE

We've heard about local homeless who worked full time or even full time and overtime for shelters and nonprofits FOR FREE, feeling that this would help them get housing, and in a couple cases we know of when the person stopped working they got thrown out for no other reason, so goes the story.

WE WOULD LOVE IT IF THOSE PEOPLE WOULD REPORT THEIR SLAVERY and prosecute but we know they are under too much stress right now.

Here are a number of links and reports about homeless being used as slaves.

We're burning with anger!  Shouldn't you be?

"Those sleeping rough on streets throughout the UK have been targeted by gangs forcing them to work for free in what amounts to slavery, according to a statement released by Thames Reach which is one of the largest charities for the homeless. The charity states that there are growing reports of homeless people being targeted in big cities such as Birmingham, London, Southampton, Dover, Manchester, Luton and Leicester."

HOMELESS USED AS SLAVES TO CLEAN UP FUKISHIMA NUCLEAR DISASTER

"Homeless people in Japan are being paid less than minimum wage to clean up the Fukushima nuclear disaster, and often end up in debt once their accommodation is docked from wages.

According to a special report by Reuters, the clean-up of the 2011 nuclear spill has become a playing ground for profiteering gangsters who are taking advantage of the need for cheap labour."

I know of a shelter where more than one homeless man was on call around the clock for months. You could hear all the case managers calling him to do this and that all day. Help with the bed bug spraying. my question is if these people do all this and still get kicked out while other homeless there sit around waiting for meals and gossiping and they won't report their slavery where can other people know about it report it? Hi Chester. We think Fair Employment and Housing may be a start! We are also thinking that calling 311 (City of LA) and asking for a resource to report suspected slavery might be a way to go.
