We've met a couple people who could not find housing for themselves unless they gave up a very much loved pet, even companion animals. One woman we met is living in her van as a senior citizen rather than give up three animals. We also met a man who stayed homeless until his very old dog died. He knew that due to the animal's age it would likely be put to death if he gave it to a shelter.
So we want to tell you about BLANKETS OF LOVE.
If you have any old towels, comforters, blankets, sheets, even old sofa pillows (that do not have roaches, bedbugs, or the like) you can donate these and they will be used well. So it's recycling.
Just to let you know, some local pet feed stores such as RED BARN in the No Hollywood Ralph's Plaza do take collections.

SKID ROW DOCUMENTARY FILM by ENOCH MAGAZINE "FIRST THREE DAYS"
Published on Aug 22, 2013 FROM YOUTUBE
In 2008, seven friends traveled to Skid Row Los Angeles to learn how to help the homeless via trial and error. The trip was not sponsored or funded by any church or organization. It was simply a mismatched group of Christians that were fed up with the norm and wanted to learn how to help the homeless. The goal of the trip was to break through the "red tape" of fear and planned preparation, (so commonly associated with a trip such as this). Hundreds were invited on this trip where 'the plan' was to have no plan. But only 7 responded. This Teaser is a preview to the upcoming documentary film, Skid Row Is Holy Ground. In this video, the team experiences the first 3 days going to Skid Row....a place they had never been before and didn't know how to penetrate.
This homeless documentary about Skid Row is currently being edited to a full length movie. Go to www.skidrowmovie.com for the latest updates!

COMING UP - A NUMBER OF RECENT VIDEOS ON HOMELESSNESS and ABOUT LOCATING PEOPLE THROUGH US and VOLUNTEERING ON THIS BLOG!
VIDEOS COMING UP and OUR VIDEO POSTING POLICY
There have been a number of good news reports and documentaries about the 2015 homeless situation here in the United States and abroad. We'll be posting some of these in the next few weeks.
We wish there were no ads to bypass on them and generally our policy is not to post videos that have ads attached but we thought these were too good to pass up.
****
USING COMMENTS TO LOCATE PEOPLE THROUGH US
We simply cannot locate anyone for you or communicate personal information to anyone for you.
We suggest that you try Twitter, Facebook, or another SOCIAL NETWORKING type site, or if you're looking for a homeless family member try the RED CROSS.
****
OUR VOLUNTEERS REMAIN ANONYMOUS with ONE EXCEPTION
One of the reasons we refuse to be a go between to contact anyone or move personal messages about it that we never reveal the names or other information about our volunteers but there is one exception: WE ARE STILL INTERESTED IN GUEST BLOGGERS. If someone wants to guest blog on this site, we will talk about their online identity first.

EXPOSE HOMELESSNESS - SO MANY SOCIAL SERVICES - SO MANY HOMELESS IN NEED! LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA
HERE YOU ARE at EXPOSEHOMELESSNESS.BLOGSPOT.COM
And if you've been reading us a while then you know that there are all sorts of services POSSIBLE for the homeless here in Southern California, especially Los Angeles, the homeless capital of the United States. We say POSSIBLE rather than "available" because anyone who has ever been homeless here and reached out for help is going to know that...
There are waiting lists for shelters. People sleep on the streets, in tents under freeway underpasses, in sleeping bags in the bushes, in vehicles that were never meant for sleeping, in abandoned buildings, in with people who are abusive to them that they would rather not live with if they had a choice. They rent garages meant for cars with a hose for running water and an electric cord running from the house. Or in RV's that have no toilet and running water because they can't afford a camp ground. Senior citizens have taken to living in vans with lettering on the outside that makes the van appear to be only for business.
Shelters don't always move homeless people into housing, even some who brag that they are "model" programs and offer amazing stats (we know better and think "how did they come up with that number?
Many nonprofits that are in the HOMELESS BUSINESS have religious requirements, some are even cults. They require that you join their version of Christianity, or that you go out and try to convert people, who you are expected to go to services, even pray or be prayed over, which leaves out anyone who wants to keep their own religious beliefs private, is Jewish or Agnostic, or who doesn't think that their homelessness is a punishment from God. Some that take Government Funds and are supposed to be non-religious no profits still have Directors
For a long time now we've had this link posted on our sidebar: NON PROFIT IMPERATIVE
This is a kick ass site that reveals all the FRAUD that has gone on with nonprofits. Here's a post for you:

Government Misuse of Charities, Again, In Question
by Gary Snyder
An interesting article in Nonprofit Quarterly on the misuse of charities:
The trend to create nonprofit organizations to do work that had once been the responsibility of a government agency continues despite questions about effectiveness, transparency, and accountability.
Despite all of the questions and allegations of misuse of funds, lack of transparency, and overstated success rates, the trend to create these nonprofits continues. Illinois is one example, and Saratoga in New York is another, hiring someone from Indiana to help with a nonprofit agency there. As NPQ suggested in an earlier article, this is definitely a trend to monitor.

We believe that one effect of having Republican presidents is that government has expected volunteerism and the churches to be social welfare organizations. It's a way that Republicans can steer more people into Christianity.

AS LOS ANGELES HOMELESS COUNT SOARS GARCETTI SAYS LET THE CAMPS ALONE!
LA TIMES - GARCETTI ON HOMELESS CAMPS
EXCERPT: The city of Los Angeles has 26,000 homeless residents, an increase of 12% over two years. Los Angeles County has the most homeless veterans in the country, and two-thirds of them, or 2,733, live in the city. The city’s homeless veteran population rose 6% in the last two years. ...
GARCETTI SAID:
“I strongly support the enactment of laws that enable the city to ensure that public areas are clean and safe,” he said in a statement released by a spokesman. But Garcetti said he decided the ordinances do “not adequately achieve the proper balance” between keeping the streets clean and protecting the rights of people “who have no other choice but to live on them.”
Proposed amendments would, among other changes, drop the misdemeanor penalty, eliminate medications and documents from the list of items that could be impounded and spell out when property is considered unattended.
