IMPACT OF $15 MINIMUM WAGE - SUPPORT IT!

HUFF POST - 15$ MINIMUM WAGE IMPACT ON LIVES

EXCERPT: ... If it does pass, California will be the first state to adopt the $15 minimum wage that food service, retail, health care and other low-wage workers have been agitating for since 2012. That makes it a game changer for minimum wage politics. Certain cities have passed a $15 minimum wage, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle, but so far no state has. Success in California could lead to success in other states.

Higher wages in California alone could boost a lot of people: Almost 18 million individuals are employed in the country’s largest state economy, and 118,000 of them make the minimum wage or less. Further, unlike federal law, California law does not permit employers to pay tipped workers a lower minimum wage. That means a hike to $15 would apply to the state’s tipped workers as well.
Housing costs are a particular problem for California’s low-income residents. Many parts of the state — particularly along the coast and in areas within commuting distance of Los Angeles, San Francisco and Silicon Valley — are facing a dearth of affordable housing. California rents are the second-highest in the country, after those in Hawaii.

TEAR DOWN THE HOMELESS CAMPS AND DISPERSE PEOPLE TO WHERE? 60 % INCREASE ON BANNING PUBLIC CAMPING SINCE 2011!

HUFFPOST - BANNING HOMELESS CAMPS JUST DISPERSES THE ISSUE  by Mary Wisniewski for Reuters

EXCERPT: Across the United States, local governments are moving to prevent outdoor camping by the homeless, according to advocates for the nation's nearly 600,000 homeless, estimated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Government officials say they are trying to limit outdoor camping for the health and safety of the homeless and other residents. But homeless advocates say the bans are not a solution to homelessness and further stigmatize the poor.  (What a joke!)

Over a third of U.S. cities impose citywide bans on public camping, a 60 percent increase in such ordinances since 2011, according to a 2014 survey of 187 cities by the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty.

More than half the cities surveyed, 57 percent, prohibit camping in certain public places. Such bans have climbed by 16 percent over the past three years, the study found.

HOMELESS JESUS SCULPTURE CONTROVERSY - "SOMEBODY CALLED THE COPS ON JESUS!"

HUFFPOST RELIGION - HOMELESS JESUS SCULPTURE CONTROVERSY

The statue, a work by Canadian sculptor Timothy Schmalz, places Jesus on a park bench, sleeping in a thin shawl. The man is unidentifiable as Christ save for crucifixion wounds on his feet.

In a previous interview with The Huffington Post, Schmalz said he was inspired to craft the statue after seeing a homeless man n the ground before Christmas in 2011. "My instinctive thought was, that is Jesus Christ. I saw Jesus," he said.

The statue is so lifelike, DavidsonNews.net Editor David Boraks told NPR, that people have called police after mistaking it for an actual person.

"That's right," NPR observes, "Somebody called the cops on Jesus.

JOEL JOHN ROBERTS WOULD GIVE TWO HOMELESS TO EACH LOS ANGELES MILLIONAIRE TO SUPPORT!

HUFF POST - JOEL JOHN ROBERTS - A MILLION REASONS WHY LOS ANGELES COULD END HOMELESSNESS  link here to full article.

Joel John Roberts WE LOVE YOU!

...Sadly, we are also the land with the most unsheltered people in the whole country. We have 58,000 people who have no homes, and two-thirds are living on the streets.

Such irony. A city with 126,000 millionaires also possesses 58,000 people without homes.

WE GOT ONE QUESTION JOEL...  DID YOU COUNT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT HOMES IN THE 50's and 60's WHEN THEY WERE STILL AFFORDABLE, now selling them for a HALF MILLION or MORE as MILLIONAIRES?
