(Recently we talked to someone who used to have a heroin addiction but who is now a social worker at a homeless shelter. He said that AA is not for everyone. He said he experienced hearing people being competitive with each other about how much they had spent on drugs in one Twelve Step setting. But a lot of former alcoholics feel AA has made all the difference and that it's the largest networking club in the world.)
