HOMEAID ORANGE COUNTY CELEBRATING 25 YEARS SERVICE TO HOMELESS
They just had another major successful giveaway...
HOMEAID ORANGE COUNTY link
"HomeAid's mission is to end homelessness by building new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach. HomeAid achieves its mission through advocacy, development (of shelters) and service.
Founded in 1989 by the Building Industry Association of Southern California, Orange County Chapter, HomeAid is the only community-based organization that has successfully developed 50 building and renovating housing projects across the entire homeless Continuum of Care spectrum, providing facilities that range from emergency shelters, to transitional housing, to permanent supportive housing.
Every year, over 12,700 people find themselves homeless in Orange County – one of the wealthiest counties in California. Of that number, an astounding 20% are children. There is the misconception that homelessness is a choice – that these people ended up on the streets because they chose to be there. Yet the truth is that most people are forced into homelessness because of life circumstances, such as job loss, illness, abandonment, or abuse. These numbers demonstrate a clear need for action. These people are the reason HomeAid continues to work towards its mission."

ELIZABETH SMART FOUNDATION FOCUS ON SEXUALLY ABUSED AND TRAFFICKED CHILDREN
Abducted from her bedroom at the age of 14 in 2002 by Brian David Mitchell and his wife Wanda Barzee, ten years later Elizabeth Smart wrote the book and revealed she had been raped multiple times a day for the nine months before she was found. Focusing on abducted, sex trafficked, and sexually abused children (that includes teens!), she now head up her own foundation. Elizabeth managed to go forward with her life without therapy because of her strong Latter Day Saints religious faith and supportive family. She wants to let all those who have been sexually abused and exploited that she understands.

"We do have options. radKIDS is a program that was created not to react to a heinous crime committed against a child, but to prevent crimes from happening to children. There are many incredible people who devote much of their time, energy, and resources to going out and hunting down child perpetrators. The “Internet Crimes Against Children” task force are some of those people. How can we afford to not support those who stand as guardians and rescuers, who do everything they can to prevent crimes and protect our children? Every child in the world deserves to have a life without abuse in any form. Children are the future." - Elizabeth Smart Foundation.

TEMPORARY IMPAIRMENT - ADA AMENDED TO DEFINE AS DISABLED
TEMPORARY IMPAIRMENT - DISABILITY - ADA AMENDED by Kevin P. McGowan
A temporary impairment caused by an injury may be a covered “disability” under the ADA Amendments Act if it's “sufficiently severe” to substantially limit a major life activity, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled Jan. 23 (Summers v. Altarum Inst., Corp., 4th Cir., No. 13-1645, 1/23/14).

This was recent and we'll wait to see if the ILLNESSES THAT COME WITH HOMELESSNESS such as the NEGATIVE HEALTH EFFECTS OF LONG TERM SLEEPLESSNESS start to count!

HOMELESS GO PRO PROJECT HELPS NON-HOMELESS GAIN EMPATHY FOR HOMELESS
POLICY MIC - WHAT HOMELESS SEE WHEN THEY TALK TO YOU
"According to their website, Homeless GoPro "outfits homeless volunteers with donated high-definition personal cameras, which they use to capture the world as they see it." The project was first conceived by Kevin Adler, a 29-year-old San Francisco resident and sociologist and education technology entrepreneur. Adler's uncle suffered from schizophrenia and died about 10 years ago after spending 30 years of his life homeless. After visiting his uncle's grave site a year ago, Adler began thinking about the people who live on the streets and are ignored daily.
"The goal is to build empathy, enable the non-homeless to walk with a homeless person for a few moments, and to explore how a camera lens associated with 'hardcore' activities like snowboarding and surfing can showcase courage and difficulty of another sort," Adler wrote on the project's website..."

DO YOU PRACTICE SAFER SEX BY USING RUBBERS EACH AND EVERY TIME YOU HAVE SEX?
H.I.V and A.I.D.S is still out there and killing people. STD's (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) are becoming drug resistant. Best option is to use RUBBERS each and every time you have sex, even if you also use contraception (birth control) to prevent pregnancy.
MEN and WOMEN should ask their doctors for blood tests for STD's at least once a year, more often if you change partners. Each and every time you break up with someone you should be tested before you take any disease to the next person!
We want to know! DO YOU PRACTICE SAFER SEX BY USING RUBBERS EACH AND EVERY TIME YOU HAVE SEX?
Or are you taking your own health and other people's health to risky behavior?

YALE TRINITY CHURCH ON THE GREEN PROVIDES FOOD AND HOLY EUCHARIST
YALE DAILY NEWS - UPCLOSE HAVEN FOR HOMELESS
Paul and Kirk Bacon are among the 767 homeless men, women and children in New Haven, many of whom count on Chapel on the Green for lunch on Sundays. In 2008, Trinity Church on the Green collaborated with other local agencies to provide a brief Holy Eucharist service followed by a meal...
Yale is known as an institution replete with wealth and prestige, but its position in the heart of New Haven brings urban issues like homelessness to the forefront of students’ daily lives. Last year’s homelessness Point in Time count found that New Haven’s homeless population is nearly double of that in other Connecticut towns of comparable size, like Bridgeport and Stamford. It is also significantly larger than that in other Ivy League towns, including Cambridge and Princeton.
All 25 undergraduates interviewed said that panhandlers asked them for money more than once a month, and more than half of those students said that panhandlers approach them on a daily basis. Even though students do not typically discuss these encounters with their peers, they said grappling with this visible manifestation of income inequality is difficult.
